Taking the car on your surfing holiday to Seignosse

Travelling to Seignosse by car makes sense if you want to be as flexible as possible. The public bus network is not very extensive and there are hardly any transport options in the evening. So if you are planning larger excursions or, as an experienced surfer, want to explore the countless spots on the coast, it pays to be mobile. Parking spaces are available directly at the house (free of charge).

Toll-free driving
In parts, the toll-free Route Nationale is excellently developed and runs almost parallel to the motorway. The average speed is naturally lower than on the motorway. Absolutely recommendable if the time factor does not play a major role.

Blablacar is a widespread, generally well-recognised institution in France that works extremely reliably.

Facebook groups like “Mitsurfbörse” and “Surftravellers” often offer carpooling on this route, e.g. as a partial route on the way to Portugal.

We can also communicate your car offer among our guests if there is interest – also for passengers. Your advantage: shared fuel costs and double the anticipation.
Car rental
If you fly to Bordeaux, Biarritz or Bilbao, you can often find cheap car rental offers at the airports – even in high season. This saves time and possibly high taxi costs.

Taking the train to Seignosse on your surfing holidays

There are good and fast ICE or TGV connections to Paris from many major German cities. The high-speed TGV departs from Montparnasse station in Paris every 2 hours. At just under 320km/h, it reaches Bordeaux in only two hours and fifty minutes. The trains are comfortable and the speed is hardly noticeable. A ticket booking is always automatically linked to a seat reservation. Pleasant travelling with environment+++!

From Germany arrival at the stations “Paris Est” or “Gare du Nord”, by metro or taxi to the station “Gare Montparnasse”. From here by connecting train to Bordeaux, Dax or Bayonne.

From Cologne, 3:50h direct, approx. five hours with 1 stopover

From Munich, 5:50h with one stopover

From Stuttgart 3:30h, direct

ATTENTION: Allow sufficient time for the change of station in Paris to “Gare Montparnasse”. From here the trains start in southern direction. To Bordeaux, Bayonne or Dax,

LINE 7: public bus. Line 7 leaves from Bayonne station or Dax station to Seignosse le Penon, stop “Office de Tourisme”.
SNCF to Dax, Bayonne or St. Vincent de Tyrosse
SNCF: Train connections from Bordeaux to Dax, Bayonne or to St. Vincent de Tyrosse.

If your train from Paris arrives too late in Dax or Bayonne, you may not be able to catch the bus on line 7. In this case, it makes sense to change to an SNCF train in Bordeaux and travel to St. Vincent de Tyrosse. This is a small station near Seignosse. From here we can pick you up for a fee. Please enquire well in advance.

Bordeaux - city of culture
Bordeaux, approx. 180km away, continue by rental car or bus/train. There is a shuttle bus from the airport to the main railway station “Gare St. Jean”. From here, continue as described in the rail journey.

If it fits into your holiday planning, one or two nights in Bordeaux are a worthwhile holiday option. The city is a jewel. The tram takes you almost everywhere. Visit interesting exhibitions, treat yourself to a wine tasting at the Musée du Vin, take a boat trip on the Garonne or enjoy a stroll through the historic city centre. And if you come in July, the Fête de la Musique even awaits you. Bordeaux has many facets and will inspire you.

Bilbao in the basque country
Bilbao, Spanish Basque Country, approx. 200km away, continue by rental car or bus/train. Car rental offers in Spain are often extremely cheap. ATTENTION: you have to declare your entry into France. The onward journey from here by public transport is somewhat awkward and takes time. If the flight times are unfavourable (late arrival, very early departure), it is well worth planning an overnight stay in Bilbao. The Basque city with its countless tapas bars, the lively old town and, of course, the Guggenheim Museum is definitely worth a visit.
