The beginner course is bookable for 3 or 4 days. This course is equally for those who have never touched a surf board, and those who wish to revisit the basics after a long break. Previous knowledge is not required.
In case you want to train for your surf trip beforehand, the best exercise we recommend is swimming. Furthermore, balance exercises like slack lining can help. However, our main intention is to show you the fun of surfing – how exciting it is to slide through the waves! In terms of skill, the main goal of the course is mastering the take-off: standing up on the board and sliding down the first waves on your feet. However, this is not a requirement. Everyone has their own pace and athletic background and therefore their own personal aims. Whether you ride the wave lying down, on your knees, or standing, fun should be your number one priority!
This course teaches you the solid basics of surfing. It starts with a detailed introduction to the equipment – board, leash and wetsuit – and how to handle them safely and correctly. Important subjects, like right-of-way-rules in the water, and the formation of waves and currents will be explained as the course progresses. Questions are important and always welcome. Warm-up exercises, as well as “dry practices” on land are also part of the course.
Attendance: max. 8 persons
Minimum age: participants may be as young as 8 years old, if they are accompanied by a parent, and their ability to swim, as well as a general sense of athleticism and coordination is evident.
Surfboards: to minimize the risk of injuries, we exclusively use soft-boards for the course, where the surface materials and fins are soft.
Wetsuits: there are shorties as well as long suits available from Roxy, Quiksilver, Billabong and Xcel
